Street Performers Festival

TS-3

Last week we took some family friends to Churchill Square to the Street Performers Festival. Brynlee had a total blast leading Simon and Estelle around the square and splashing in the pool with Lola. The weather was amazing… and so were the mini doughnuts and lemonade! Definitely a must-see with littles for next summer if you missed it 🙂

Cake Smash: Charlie

Charlie Cake Smash-2.jpg

Miss. Charlie will be ONE on the 22nd and I have a total soft spot for this little beauty. Mainly because she’s a halfer just like me (half white, half flip) but also because her parents are the most genuine couple I know! Jess works in peds cardiology and Arch was my educator in PICU. Frequently I’d see these two strolling down the hallway, her hand in his, heading home after a rewarding day at work.

St. Albert Farmer’s Market

Binboo-3.jpg

Yesterday we finally made it to the St. Albert Farmer’s Market and had an absolute blast! Brynlee loved people watching, holding Daddy’s hand and giving strangers hugs ^^^. We were so excited to cross yet another item off our Summer Bucket List… stay tuned for the full list of fun things to do around the city [and mountains] this summer!

We bought: a couple of Confetti Sweets cookies (sugar and oatmeal M&M); Blue Kettle ginger sauce; lemonade; and a couple packs of Sunworks Farm organic chicken sausage for dinner. Everything was so delicious, we will definitely be back 🙂

Cake Smash: Ava

This beautiful girl turns ONE tomorrow! It has been an absolute blast watching Ava grow up and learn new things alongside Brynlee. The two girls are best friends and love story-time, music class and drop in gymnastics. Ava had so much fun smashing her cake, playing with the balloons and scootin’ all over the room. I am certainly looking forward to taking more pictures of this gorgeous girl and her amazing family!

I Got Us Coffees…

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

Thursday evening Craig came home from work but had forgotten something in the car. When I asked what it was, he simply said, “I got us coffees”. I was in the middle of reheating my 10am coffee for the 5th time… #momlife and when I told him this, he quickly responded with “well don’t pour it out!”

A minute later he walked into the kitchen and put a gigantic McBain camera bag on the kitchen island. The look on my face was probably a good mix between bewilderment and total excitement! I asked him what it was……. and he put his hand on the top of the bag to prevent me from ripping into it and asked, “what do you want it to be?” It took me a couple milliseconds to think about it and I quickly squealed “a full frame camera!!!”

We don’t usually give each other extravagant gifts… in fact we are pretty cheap, practical and to some extent frugal with our spending. So when I opened up the bag and pulled out the Canon Mark III, I almost just stuck it right back into the bag!

Craig is my absolute best friend and has supported me in everything that I have chosen to do. I am a better person today because of him and this gift is so much more than just a really fabulous camera. This act of kindness is affirmation that he truly believes in me and wants me to pursue my passion. He is not just taking on the role of “passive bystander” but instead is actively enabling and empowering me. Bottom line: I’ve got a really amazing man in my life 🙂

One Year Stats

JoinTheHunts-13

This morning I was fiddling around with Photoshop (my nemesis) and came up with this cute stat sheet. We have quite a bit of family and friends who live out of town, so I thought this was a creative way to display and show them what Brynlee is up to these days 🙂

Teaser Alert!

Teaser3

Yesterday we took some gorgeous pictures of Brynlee in her one year birthday outfit! Most props are from Michaels and will be used for her party next weekend. Craig carefully helped me make the tassels (best husband ever!) and the “follow your heart” keepsake box will be where guests put their predictions for her time capsule! She did so well… but eventually got exhausted and decided to take a birthday girl nap 😉

Daddy’s Little Girl

IMG_3858

How sweet are the moments you don’t expect but are able to capture forever. This little girl woke up crying during her afternoon nap and Daddy came straight to the rescue.

Ever since Brynlee was born, my love and admiration for my husband has grown exponentially. Craig absolutely adores our little girl and Brynlee trusts this man like no other. The look on her face and sound of her adorable giggle makes my heart melt when he throws her up in the air and catches her with ease. Craig was meant to be a Dad, and Brynlee was meant to be his daughter. They are already so similar it is ridiculous – bubbly, outgoing hand-talkers. It definitely doesn’t help that Brynlee is his little clone… I will have to find some toddler pictures of Craig to do a comparison soon!

Saturday Mornings

NewIMG_3761IMG_3778IMG_3711

Lazy Saturday mornings with my family are my favourite. We sleep in (Brynlee is usually pretty good at this), Craig and I take turns making each other breakfast, turn on Hawaii life and pretend that we’re moving to Maui. My specialty is chocolate chip blueberry pancakes, while Craig makes the most delicious fluffy scrambled eggs that Brynlee LOVES. We usually lounge in our PJ’s for a while and eventually get ready for the day. Since it’s Easter weekend, I’m planning on getting some 1 year shots of Brynlee and then we will head out to the cabin for Easter dinner.

Currently Brynlee is having a full-blown conversation with her Easter basket.

Why I Decided to Start a Blog…

I loved reading books when I was little. There are countless pictures of me as a toddler copying my grandma (holding books upside down), cozying up on the couch next to a wood burning fireplace pretending to read. In elementary school, I decided I wanted to be a writer – they had so much fun coming up with crazy unpredictable plots and dynamic characters. Okay fine, I wanted to be J.K. Rowling… or better yet Harry Potter! Regardless, I created this blog because I love to read, write and create. I have recently picked up photography and want to document my daughter’s life. I’m a sucker for scrapbooks, journals, photo albums, etc. But I want more! So here it is… Join the Hunts 🙂
